Many elementary schools are challenged by violent behaviours. I am often asked to comment on the lack of viable options when engaging adults in non-violent crisis intervention training sessions. The lack of well aligned and fully supported strategies will only burden the system at a later date when behaviours are profoundly entrenched in a school culture. We need an approach that will address the well being of the child taking action as well as the adults who are tasked with responding to the violence AND the other children that are frequently exposed to an abundance of potentially traumatic events. Violence in any school cannot become an acceptable standard!
